2018 FALL DAY RETREAT

SATURDAY OCTOBER 6 • 8:30 AM – 8:00 PM • HARTMAN CENTER

Step away from the demands of grad school and join us for a day to refresh, to connect deeply with God and others, and to be encouraged and challenged in your walk with God.

We’ll also spend a good portion of the day spending time with one another relaxing and playing. Or if you prefer to stay indoors, we’ll have Scrabble, Settlers of Cataan, Killer Uno, and lot’s of other fun games to play.

And, of course, there will be yummy food! Light breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided.

All that to say, it’s a great day to be refreshed, challenged in your walk with God, and better connected with others in PSCG. We hope you can join us!

MEET OUR SPEAKER: RICK GRUNDEN

Dr. Richard Grunden (Rick) attended Penn State University where the Lord captured his heart. He learned how to walk with God through his involvement with Campus Crusade for Christ (Cru), eventually serving as President of Cru at Penn State until graduating in 2003 with honors in medicine. Rick married his college sweetheart, Kim, who graduated with a degree in architectural engineering. Rick attended Penn State’s College of Medicine in Hershey, PA where he served as the president of the Christian Medical Society and was active in the Christian Medical and Dental Association. Rick completed his residency in Family and Community Medicine from one of the top programs in the country, Lancaster General Hospital. He currently works as a full-time family doctor and chairs and sits on several leadership committees for the hospital system. Rick’s faith is interwoven with his vocation as a physician as he regularly shares the gospel and prays with his patients. Rick is passionate about making disciples, teaching others to understand the Bible more deeply, and his family. These passions grew out of his involvement with Cru and he continues to be a faithful supporter of the ministry. He and Kim are blessed with five young, crazy and wonderful kids, and their family resides in Lititz, PA.

RETREAT REGISTRATION FEE

The registration fee for the retreat helps us cover all of the expenses of the retreat and ensures that we are able to host the retreat each and every year. You can pay the fee at the day of the retreat in cash or with a check made payable to “Cru”.

For singles, the cost is $20. • For couples, the cost is $35

Please do not let the cost of the retreat keep you from coming. If needed, we have scholarship funds available to help. For more information and to request a scholarship, please email Jade Sandbulte at jfs5644@psu.edu.

GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER ACTIVITY

As an active way of getting to know each other, please bring an item that answers the question “What do you treasure?” It can be a book, a picture, a special item, or anything else that you can think of! Throughout the day, each person will have the opportunity to introduce themselves and tell us why they chose to bring that object.

Please only bring something that you feel safe bringing to a camp. While people will be in the room all day and will likely have your object in sight, we would hate for you to lose something that you value very deeply and want you to have peace of mind during the day.

If there are any questions, please contact Jade Sandbulte at jfs5644@psu.edu. Looking forward to getting to know you better!

WHAT TO BRING TO THE RETREAT

Bible, journal, and pen • Board games and/or cards to play • Soccer ball, football, frisbee, etc. • A jacket and walking shoes for an optional easy hike. • The object that tells us something about you (see above for more info) • A check made payable to “Cru” to cover the registration fee 🙂 ($20 for singles, $35 for couples)
